I may be moving to the Azores in a few months and I do not know how to speak Portuguese. I looked into Rosetta Stone but they only have the Brazillian Portuguese so thats not going to work. Whats the fastest way I can learn and if I have to buy something, where do I get it?

Portuguese wants lot of years to be learned by an English native. If you already know Spanish it’ll be easier, but if you don’t, you better look for a private Portuguese teacher… Don’t even think in learning Brazilian Portuguese to go to Portugal, it’ll be a mess if you do that. Look for Portuguese speaking friends in the net, watch to videos, you don’t need to learn before moving, you can study there, it’ll be better for you… These are useful phrases you can use:
Bom dia/tarde/noite - Good morning/afternoon/evening or night
Como vais or estás? - How are you?
Quanto custa? - How much is it?
Onde é? - Where is it?
Quantas horas são? - What time is it?
Estou bem, obrigado! - I’m fine, thanks!
São catorze horas. - It’s 2 o’clock pm.
Perdão (or Desculpe), não falo português. - I’m sorry, I don’t speak Portuguese.
Tu falas inglês? - Do you speak English?
Sou [dos Estados Unidos]. - I’m from [the USA].
A que horas o próximo avião parte (or decola) - What time is the next plane gonna leave?
Poderias ajudar-me, por favor? - Could you help me, please?
Por favor- Please.
[Muito] Obrigado - Thank you [very much].
De nada - You’re welcome (answering Obrigado).
Bem-vindo - Welcome (when someone arrives).
The phrases are in European Portuguese.
Boa sorte!
The fastest way to learn any language is to immerse yourself in it, do lots of repetition and make lots of mistakes …. look for Portuguese for foreigners, or hire someone to teach you some basic useful phrases and go from there.
