How Hard Is It To Learn Arabic?

by admin on January 12, 2010

I speak english and have a good understanding of Spanish (can read, understand, and write, but have a little trouble speaking it). I am going off the college and would like to learn a foreign language and Arabic is at the top of my list, but I don’t want to be overwhelmed if its too hard to learn. Please help!

I’ve attempted in learning arabic, I have arabic friends around me to teach me new words. It would be much easier when you are around people who speaks arabic, i listen to them almost everyday. Its interesting though, you gotta roll your tongue (since you’ve learn spanish, i reckon rolling should be alright for u!).
Writing arabic is tough!! its like tamil or chinese or any other complex language which doesnt use alphabets!!
Good Luck!!

let’s put it this way…
take everything you know about english and spanish..
throw it out the window
and start learning how to speak completely from scratch.. there are no similarities between english and spanish to any form of arabic.
the same goes for russian, or any form of asian. especially japanese.
aside from that, there are hundreds of dialects of arabic, so, just because you speak one doesn’t mean you can talk to anyone you want.
the best way to learn it though is to join the army and sign up for covert ops / special ops. they put you through an intensive training that will basically have you talking like a native in several dialects in about 6 months…
of course you’ll be a spy and will have to do spy stuff, and will probably be killed or held hostage if they catch you.
good luck with that…
by the way, why in general do you want to learn it? do you plan to go there?
do you have any idea what they are doing to american women there right now? if not, then you should watch the news more often…
they don’t like american women, or white women in general, so… they do horrible things to them, and get away with it..
in fact, over there, if a man rapes a woman, the WOMAN goes to -prison- for fornication and allowing the man to have sex with her…
as a non military person, you’re specifically targeted for things like that and worse just about anywhere you go in the middle east. and……
if you aren’t planning to go, then i really have no idea why you’d want to learn it. there isn’t much of a use for it in the states. most people who live here who speak it are more or less fluent in English. they learned it before they ever moved here.
i wish you luck

What is your reason for learning Arabic ?
If I were you, with good reading, writing, and understanding skills in Spanish, I would seek to strengthen my Spanish by taking some intensive courses in conversational Spanish. Join a Spanish club, make friends with Spanish-speaking students, even join their student organizations to improve your Spanish. A knowledeg of spoken Spanish will be a decided asset in today’s and tomorrow’s America.

Any language is difficult to learn from the get go. That is why you continue to learn it, and study it. If you set your mind to it, you will accomplish your goal for sure.
