I’m a near-fluent Spanish speaker who plans to continue studying Spanish until I become really fluent. Once I reach that point, I want to learn another language. I’ve been thinking Italian would be easy, but I’ve always wanted to learn French, and I know the two languages share roots. How easily could a fluent Spanish speaker learn to speak French?

my friend speaks fluent Spanish and she’s learning French, she says its easy and hard, some things are sort of the same and some aren’t. It all really depends on how well you comprehend and remember things. But if it’s something you really want to learn I bet it’ll be easier for you.
Oh, this is perfect (:
I’m from Colombia so i’m fluent in spanish, for it’s my first language, but i moved to the US when i was very young so now i’m also very fluent in english. In a way, it’s become like my first language because i obviously use it everyday. I loveee learning languages though. This year, i started taking french, and i was a little nervous. But with spanish it is superrrr easy. I’m acing that class, and i am the best student in the class also. Spanish and french are very much alike. Many words sound so much the spanish ones. I guaranteee you will do great in learning french if you learn spanish very well. It is also a very beautiful language. To understand french more, i translate everything into spanish, and from spanish to english. It makes it much easier for me. Good luck! (: (Hope this helps!)
